The instructor presents relevant movie scenes to the topic of class in order to facilitate discussion. In Theory class, students explore picture editing and sound editing conventions and techniques. Critical skills such as starting a project, making cuts, post-production workflow, sound design, media management, basic effects and other advanced skills are taught. In daily meetings, students are instructed on the latest version of Avid Media Composer. This is the core class of the Digital Video Editing Workshop. Each project demonstrates the student's’ understanding of the theoretical and technical skills taught in class.Ĭourse Descriptions Editing with Media Composer Students are also taught video compositing and working with green screen footage.īy the completion of this course, students create four different projects. The emphasis of the class is mainly on text illustration, yet students also learn other skills. Additionally, they are taught basic graphic design principles. Students gain an in-depth understanding of Adobe After Effects and are introduced to Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. During the course students will finish four projects that become more challenging as the course progresses. We find that the best approach to students gaining experience is for them to create and work on their own projects. The New York Film Academy believes in a hands-on approach that allows students to gain experience in After Effects, while training them as storytellers as well.
